The first direct recruiting contacts matter. For King Williams, a personal letter associated with University of Puget Sound defensive-line coach Jeff Schmidt became one of those moments.
King’s family received personal recruiting correspondence from defensive-line coach Jeff Schmidt in October 2026, including an invitation related to a December camp opportunity. The family responded with updated game-film and statistics information on October 20 and followed up October 25.
What the invitation means
It gives King an opportunity to explore another collegiate football environment and connect with coaches. It does not, by itself, constitute a college roster offer, an admission decision or an athletic scholarship.
King remains uncommitted as his family evaluates the strength of each program’s defensive-line development, academic fit and affordability. Camp date, fees and attendance should be verified against the original invitation before any travel is booked.
